Web accessibility is centered around allowing anyone to view, interact with, or create content on the internet. No matter the disability or disadvantages someone may have, it’s important that they aren’t a barrier to their success in navigating the online world.
It’s important for the web to be accessible to everyone because it is required to be compliant with set standards enacted by laws. These laws are put in place to ensure developers design a website in a manner that anyone can view and interact with, or even provide tools to modify the visuals of the site to help interact with it. This lowers the barrier of entry and makes it much easier for anyone to go and do anything on the web without worry that their disability stops them from doing what is important to them. Common accessibility features include screen readers, contrast modes, text size, and alt text for images. These allow the page to be modified in a way that is tailored in assisting whatever disability a user may have.
