Why Kubio?
While browsing website themes I was looking for something simple and easy to customize and work with. It also needed to be a theme that worked well in a blog-first content style. Kubio was selected for the website theme due to its modern, minimalistic design and content layout. It isn’t overly complicated or busy in its design elements and has a custom editor that allows more detailed and unique design changes. Kubio works effectively for Alume Studio due to it being designed for blog and portfolio content in mind. It retains the modern and simplistic feel while still laying out elements in an intuitive manner for viewers and works great for SEO and accessibility.
Modifications
Kubio was customized further by editing the cover/featured image of the home landing page, as well as the cover image at the top of every page on the website. It was modified to fit the filmmaking feel and feel relevant to Alume Studio’s mission. The footer background color was also customized with a shade of gray that fits with the website colors and is easier on the eyes to read compared to a pure white background. The navigation appearance was also modified to keep the company name front and center with the other pages centered underneath. This keeps Alume Studio’s name as a central element and creates visual hierarchy with the page navigation underneath. In the future further modifications may be made to footer and navigation styles that could be even more effective, but were omitted for this project since they require a paid tier of the website theme.

Proper Storage Planning
Backup raw footage to an external hard drive or secondary location after each shoot to prevent data loss. Establish storage habits early to avoid preventable errors.

For beginners, understanding microphone types and placement is crucial for good audio quality. Cardioid mics are ideal for solo dialogue, and placing the mic close to the mouth reduces background noise and enhances voice warmth.
