Customizing My Website Theme

Blocksy theme widgets, including advanced search, contact info, socials, about me, and dynamic data, enhance website functionality. Scheduling design changes is beneficial for content/product releases or rebranding, allowing for adequate preparation before public reveal.

The Blocksy theme supports a variety of widgets, five of them being advanced search, contact info, socials, about me, and dynamic data. Advanced search makes it easier to find specific content or keywords across my website so users can discover what interests them even faster. Contact info, as implied, makes it easy and accessible for users to find ways to contact me whether for support, feedback, or questions. Socials boosts engagement on the website and allows users to be exposed to content from me outside of my website platform. About me is beneficial if I want users to be able to access information about me across the website and remember the credibility of the company/person they are getting content from. Dynamic data simplifies the process of fetching data from outside sources and integrating it to appear on my website in my desired manner. This content can be a supplement to what my website already provides. In this lesson, I integrated socials and search into my website inside the footer. This makes it easy for users to always have a place to access my social platforms no matter what page they are on. It also makes it easier if they need to search for something after reaching the end of a webpage. That way they don’t need to scroll all the way back to the top.

Other features I’ve utilized on my website is reorganizing the block layout of content in my footer and changing the page background to a light gray color. This makes the footer more visually appealing and the background color change makes it easier on the eyes so users aren’t blasted by a white screen (especially when viewing in a dark environment).

Scheduling design changes is beneficial if you are releasing new content/products or rebranding the entire company identity. Major content or product drops could warrant a temporary new look and feel to the website to spark interest in it and you definitely don’t want to drop this before the product/content is officially released to the public. A drastic brand identity change also takes a lot of time and iterations before its final, and you wouldn’t want to drop even bits or pieces of it until you’re ready. That way, scheduling allows you to prepare adequately for when you want to reveal it the public.
