It’s important to only use trusted plugins that are proven to be safe on a website to ensure there is no breach of security or privacy for both site owners and visiting users. It also prevents unwanted modification of website content in a negative manner. Plugins can be found in the official plugin directory at wordpress.org. When discovering plugins it’s important to be on the lookout for factors such as user reviews, number of active websites/users that have the plugin installed, and how recently it was updated. These provide a good idea of how well the plugin is seen by the community.
Plugins can also be found from independent sources and websites that offer them as a license or recurring subscription. These can be found with good research and community interactions to find popular and trustworthy sites to source plugins from.

It also helps with ensuring my website remains visually current and updated for users, which helps with first impressions and overall trust of my content.
